β³ Design a Putt Putt Hole
You are going to design and build your own putt-putt hole that aims at the target shown in the picture. First, you will plan your idea on paper. Then, you will build and test it in the classroom or hallway.
Create a fun and creative mini golf hole using up to 3 common classroom items to guide the golf ball into the target.
Draw a simple picture of your putt-putt hole.
Your drawing should include:
The starting point (where the golfer will putt)
The path the ball will travel
The target hole (shown in the picture)
The 3 items you plan to use as obstacles or helpers
Label your items (for example: book, chair, ruler, folder, cup, etc.).
After your teacher approves your design:
Gather up to 3 classroom items
Set up your putt-putt hole in the classroom or hallway
Make sure everything is safe and stable
Do not block walkways or doors
Design Code for Golfing with Spheros
Your goal is to carefully drive the Sphero robot from the starting point to the putt-putt hole target.
Place your Sphero at the starting line.
Make sure your tablet or device is connected to the Sphero.
Open the Sphero Edu app.
Aim (set the direction) so the blue tail light points behind the robot.
Before you start driving, take a moment to:
Look at the obstacles in your putt-putt course
Decide which direction the Sphero should travel
Think about when to go slow, stop, or turn
Tip: Slow and steady usually works best!
Gently move the joystick to start driving
Use small movements to control the robot
Slow down when you get close to the hole
Try to stop the Sphero as close to the target as possible
Let's Play!
